Marjorie Taylor Greene Warns About ‘MAGA’ Revolt If Haley Is Teamed Up With Trump

On Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) tore into the prospect of former President Donald Trump choosing Nikki Haley to be his running mate if he secures the Republican presidential nomination.

Greene, a longtime and ardent supporter of Trump, who has previously spoken about joining his ticket herself, blasted Haley, former ambassador to the United Nations and former South Carolina governor, as a “neocon.”

“MAGA would revolt if Nikki Haley were to even be given an internship in Trump’s next administration,” Greene predicted on X. “She represents the neocon establishment America last wing of the Republican Party that we are absolutely done with. Also, she lied and said she would not run against Trump.”

Haley’s campaign has made significant progress in the polls in recent months, gaining ground on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, even taking second place from him in New Hampshire, according to RealClearPolitics.

Rumors about Haley potentially serving in a second Trump administration have surrounded the candidate, but she has refused to address the prospect, repeatedly insisting on the campaign trail: “I don’t play for second.”

Additionally, in 2021 Haley told reporters, “I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it.”

Greene raised the possibility of being Trump’s running mate in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution back in August.

“I have a lot of things to think about,” she said at the time. “Am I going to be a part of President Trump’s Cabinet if he wins? Is it possible that I’ll be VP?”

Trump holds a commanding lead in the GOP primary, with a 48 percentage-point national lead in the most recent RealClearPolitics aggregate. He has been quiet about a potential vice presidential pick, in no small part due to his previous Vice President Mike Pence and their public fallout due to the latter’s refusal to throw out the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, 2021.
