Michelle Obama’s Office Reveals Former First Lady Will Not Run for President

The office of former First Lady Michelle Obama announced on Tuesday that Michelle “will not be running for president” in 2024.

The announcement was intended to quell mounting speculation about party leadership replacing President Joe Biden with an individual better positioned to beat the presumptive GOP nominee, former President Donald Trump.

Former President Barack Obama has been thrifty in his praise of Joe Biden, his former vice president, but recently stated he is “all in” for supporting Biden’s reelection bid.

However, Biden continues to drop in the polls, which has led many to push for party leaders to present an alternative plan.

A recent Rasmussen survey revealed that approximately 50% of Democrats want to replace Biden with another candidate.

Numerous alternate candidate names have been floated — including Vice President Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Former GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy has speculated in several interviews that Michelle Obama would become the DNC candidate by this summer.

Addressing the issue, Crystal Carson, director of communications for Michelle Obama’s office, told NBC: “As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president.”

Carson added: “Mrs. Obama supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ reelection campaign.”

During the 2023 Netflix special “The Light We Carry,” Michelle Obama said to Oprah Winfrey: “Politics is hard. You’ve got to want it. It’s got to be in your soul because it is so important. It is not in my soul.”
