CNN political commentator Alice Stewart, 58, tragically passed away reportedly due to a sudden medical emergency.

Stewart’s body was discovered outdoors in the Bellevue neighborhood of northern Virginia, CNN reported.

“Heartbreaking,” Texas Senator Ted Cruz posted on X following the news. “Alice was wonderful and talented and a dear friend. And she loved America fiercely.”

“She lived every day to the fullest, and she will be deeply missed,” he continued. “May God’s comfort and peace be upon her loved ones. RIP.”

Other X users–comprising of both Democrats and Republicans–echoed similar grievances as the story circulated the internet over the weekend. With some sparking suspicion over her mysterious death and probing about whether it was related to the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Vaxxed. Of course. Show me the unvaxxed ‘dying suddenly.’ I dare you,” posted TV radio host Wayne Root.

“Show me unvaxxed young bankers dying. I dare you. They don’t exist. This is a crisis of the vaxxed. Period. Media blackout. Bribed by Big Pharma,” he continued. “Biggest scandal in world history.

Another user wrote, “CNN Alice Stewart died Suddenly … I’m sure it has nothing to do with that tweet,” accompanied with an old post from 2021 by Stewart that read, “I am fully vaccinated. Not sure why others do what they do.”

Law enforcement authorities are attributing Stewart’s death to a medical emergency, with no suspicion of foul play at this juncture, CNN reported.

The network’s CEO Mark Thompson conveyed heartfelt sentiments to staff via email on Saturday. “Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN,” he said.

Thompson described Stewart as a political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist, highlighting her invaluable contributions to CNN’s coverage.

He emphasized her reputation for political acumen and unwavering kindness across CNN’s bureaus. Thompson also noted that the network mourns deeply over this significant loss.

CNN enlisted Stewart as a political commentator in anticipation of the 2016 election.

She made frequent appearances on air, offering insights into the day’s political developments, and most recently contributed to “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.”

Blitzer expressed admiration for Stewart’s contributions, stating, “We always invited her to come on my show because we knew we would be a little bit smarter at the end of that conversation.”

He emphasized her role in enhancing viewer understanding of political affairs, lamenting her departure.

CNN anchor and chief political correspondent Dana Bash recalled her two-decade acquaintance with Stewart, originating from their encounter during Stewart’s tenure with the Huckabee campaign.

Bash praised Stewart as someone who spoke candidly and directly.

Stewart’s expertise in Republican politics and campaigns significantly enriched CNN’s political panels, according to Bash.

Bash highlighted Stewart’s approach, noting, “She brought that understanding of how Republican politics, Republican campaigns work and she never, ever did it with anything other than a smile.”

Stewart boasted a career as a political adviser in addition to her role as a commentator, lending her expertise to numerous GOP campaigns throughout her lifetime.

Stewart commenced her journey in journalism as a local reporter in her home state of Georgia before transitioning to Arkansas, where she served as a news anchor.

She also held the position of communications director for then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, where she actively supported his presidential bid in 2008.

CNN highlighted that Stewart assumed the responsibilities of a communications director for various GOP campaign teams. She notably contributed to Senator Ted Cruz’s 2016 campaign.

Stewart delineated her position as a conservative voice within CNN during an interview with the Harvard Political Review.
