Report: NYT Staffer Allegedly Appeared Naked During Morning Video Call

According to a report from The Messenger, a New York Times staff member allegedly appeared naked on a Thursday morning video conference call.

During a call with top editors, the woman, who has not been identified by the outlet, allegedly walked into the camera frame, according to a source familiar with the matter. While her identity was unknown, she is allegedly a high-level NYT journalist.

The woman was reportedly unaware that her camera was on and unintentionally flashed the group. An editor who was monitoring the call noticed the woman and removed her immediately.

While the Times has yet to release a statement or confirm the alleged incident, it isn’t the first incident involving exposing oneself occurring among high-level journalists.

While in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, while Zoom calls were still becoming normal routine, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin was caught on camera masturbating during an infamous October 2020 video call with The New Yorker and WNYC.

Toobin later publicly apologized to his “wife, family, friends and co-workers” for the incident, calling it “an embarrassingly stupid mistake” as he had thought that he was “not visible” on camera.

“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera,” Toobin stated. “I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers. I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”

Toobin was later fired from The New Yorker for his actions, but was kept on staff for CNN. He later left the outlet while they were in the process of cutting multiple longtime members, including Brian Stelter and Don Lemon.
