Watch: Stephen A. Smith Rips Democrats’ Lawfare Against Trump, Says He Wants To See Former President ‘Lose The Right Way’

Stephen A. Smith lambasted the hush money trial against Trump during a recent interview, expressing his desire to witness the former president “lose the right way.”

He also issued a stark warning earlier this week about how the Democrats’ lawfare strategy, whether it ends up with Trump locked-up or not, will result in no more “peace in this country” ever again.

“Primarily, I have voted Democrat throughout my life, but I’m utterly disgusted with what I’m seeing.” the ESPN host said during his interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday. 

“They’ve clearly politicized this thing with Donald Trump because they can’t come up with a strategy to offset the momentum he’s clearly gained,” he added.

The sports commentator expressed his “utter disgust” with Trump’s criminal trial, which commenced Monday with jury selection.

Smith criticized it as the Democrats’ attempt to politicize the courts, viewing it as their response to being unable to halt the former president’s momentum in the polls.

“That appears to be their strategy, but I’m going to tell you, it’s not working. It’s not working at all,” Smith said. “And to be quite honest, I don’t mind the fact that it’s not working because I might not be a supporter of Donald Trump, but I want him to lose the right way.”

“I want him to lose because you have better ideas and you make your case to the American people better than he does. That’s why I want him to lose,” he continued. “I don’t want him to lose the way they’re trying to make him lose.”

This would also not be the first time Smith has been outspoken about Democrats ahead of the 2024 presidential rematch, as many users online have pointed out.

Smith relayed a similar message earlier this week, where he directly called out liberals for pursuing criminal trials against former President Trump, asserting that they are “scared” and “can’t beat him on the issues.”

Smith made these comments during the Tuesday episode of “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” coinciding with the second day of Trump’s trial.

Fox News reported that as the trial progressed with the swearing-in of the first six jurors, Smith contended that the case amounted to an admission by Trump’s political opponents that they couldn’t defeat him in an election and thus had to resort to lawfare tactics.

“To my liberal friends out there, all you’re doing is showing that you’re scared you can’t beat him on the issues and the merits,” said Smith.

“That’s why he keeps saying they can’t beat me at the election, at the polls. This is the only way they can do it,” he added.

Smith then issued a warning about the potential consequences of this strategy, particularly if Trump is never incarcerated. 

“And if you don’t put him in jail, and he still goes from being the presumptive GOP nominee to the official GOP nominee, and he goes to the polls, even though he was going to whine about winning and being rigged again, you have given more fodder to that argument, which means we’ll never have peace in this country,” the podcast host stated.

“Because tens of millions of people see what extent the other side is willing to go through just to keep him out of office because they can’t beat him on their own merits,” Smith continued.
