Trump Unleashes at House GOP’s Speaker Nominee Tom Emmer

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly not happy with the GOP’s new nominee to serve as Speaker of the House.

Expressing his displeasure, Trump rebuked the GOP for moving away from Conservative principles and referred to the new nominee, Rep. Tom Emmer,” as a RINO (a Republican In Name Only).

Following the chaotic fallout from Re. Kevin McCarthy’s ouster as Speaker less than a month ago and Re. Jim Jordan’s failure to secure the necessary 217 votes after three rounds of voting, GOP members nominated a more centrist leader.

Rep. Emmer is currently the House Majority Whip. He secured the necessary votes to become the nominee in the fifth round of secret ballot voting.

Though not highly critical of Trump, Emmer has refused to endorse Trump in his current bid for President. The resentment was obvious in Trump’s Tuesday post on Truth Social:

“I have many wonderful friends wanting to be Speaker of the House, and some are truly great Warriors. RINO Tom Emmer, who I do not know well, is not one of them. He never respected the Power of a Trump Endorsement or the breadth and scope of MAGA—MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

“He fought me all the way, and actually spent more time defending Ilhan Omar, than he did me—He is totally out-of-touch with Republican Voters. I believe he has now learned his lesson, because he is saying that he is Pro-Trump all the way, but who can ever be sure? Has he only changed because that’s what it takes to win?”

Trump added: “The Republican Party cannot take that chance, because that’s not where the America First Voters are. Voting for a Globalist RINO like Tom Emmer would be a tragic mistake!”

There were nine House Republicans vying to replace Rep. Jim Jordan as the nominee for Speaker. Noteworthy is that already, 26 House Republicans have stated their opposition to Emmer, according to Punchbowl News.
